What is the perfect golf swing? A lot would say that it has to do with the swing plane and how well you get the golf club to the top of the swing while having a smooth transition allowing the hips, shoulders, and arms to rotate creating a low center of gravity swing because of the lag it creates. Now this is an example of what an instructor might say, probably made no sense to you but in my opinion their is no "perfect" way to swing a golf club.
Take Jim Furyk for example, One of the older golfers on the PGA Tour and has a very unorthodox swing. Yet he just shot the lowest round in history on the PGA Tour firing a 58 at the Travelers in CT. The reason he is so good is because he has been practicing his golf swing his entire life and he has mastered it. He knows how it works and he doesn't need an instructor to tell him different. Same goes for Bubba Watson who is a 2 time Masters Champion. He has never taken a lesson and he is one of the best golfers that has ever been on the PGA Tour. You do not have to have a "perfect" golf swing to be on the PGA Tour.

How to hit a shot low if you ever find yourself in the woods, wind in your face, or you just want to hit a low shot because the ground is hard. This is a shot that is difficult to hit but if you can learn it you will be able to save a lot of shots. You may ask: Why do I need this shot? Well lets say you get stuck in the woods and you have tree branches everywhere. Branches only grow on the mid and above on a tree so you have around 3-8 feet of nothing but the tree trunk. This is a good time to hit a low shot because you have a better chance of not hitting the trunk rather than a million tree branches. In this video you will learn how to hit a knock down/stinger. When I hit this shot I have 3 things I remind myself to do. Put the ball in the middle to back of my stance, choke up on the golf club so I am gripping the very end of the grip, and finally I am doing a 3/4 swing rather than a full swing. If you do this correctly the ball will come out low and quick because when you put the ball in the back of your golf stance it forces the club to change the angle of attack and de-lofts the club allowing the ball to come out low.

Today you will learn how to score better on the course. Many people think if you have a bad swing or your not good in a certain area that you won't be able to play good. Everyone has a weakness in their golf game, even the professionals but its how you can be consistent and patient. For example, I am not good at hitting my irons onto greens but I know what way my ball will curve every time and I know what way it will curve when I hit it bad. This means that I can focus hitting my irons in specific spots and I can be aware of where my bad shot will go allowing me to be more cautious.
In this video you will meet Andy Proudman and learn course management strategies. He is a professional golfer and is very successful in the golfing industry. He demonstrates that you do not have to go for every green or hit the ball as far as you can to shoot good scores. In golf you have to pay attention to where the trouble is and you have to learn your weakness.

The most important part to golf is the short game. The short game is when you are around the green and you need to chip/putt. Alot of people do not think about it but almost half of your shots are just in putting. If you play a golf course and the course's par is 72 and lets say you shoot 72 and you 2 putted every hole which is average. Thats 36 shots just in putting which is half par for the course.
This is a great drill for chipping because if you miss the green you are going to have to chip and this drill teaches you to chip within 3 feet of the hole. Most of the time you will make a 3 footer so thats why they use a 3 foot circle for demonstration.

Here you will see Graham McDowell helping an amateur with their short game. Graham is one of the best putters on the PGA tour and you will notice that all the players on tour are very good but what separates them from amateurs is putting. They average around 25 putts where an average golfer is around 35.

Learning the golf swing. When looking at a golfer you may think the sport is easy and anyone can do it but the golf swing is very complex and nearly impossible to perfect. In order to be consistant and have a similar swing overtime you must have a strong lower body. The legs must be able to balance your upper body while tuning at fast speeds. If not you will not have a similar swing every time and you will notice that the golf ball will curve right or left. You will notice in the video below that the golfer has a very strong lower body and is able to create very fast swing speeds with his upper body because he is balanced.
As you can see this golfers lower body is stable and has very little movement. Just about every player on tour has a swing similar to this and because of that stable lower body some players are able to reach club head speeds of 150 mph+. So next time you go to the driving range and you are trying to show off how far you can hit it remember that its not always about how hard you can swing but how well you can stay in balance and rotate. A good example of this is Rory McIlroy, he is only 5'7 and he is one of the longest hitters on tour not because he is strong but because he has incredible rotation.

Hi my name is Max Bock and I am looking to become a golf professional/teacher. I am hoping that these blogs will give future customers an idea of how I teach and some tips on making your golf game better.
This is a short video on how to exercise and stretch for golfing. TPI workout is a workout where a professional trainer examines you and your golf swing and creates a workout routine that will not only help your golf game but your health. The purpose for these workouts is to help strengthen your core muscles which helps stabilizes your golf swing. In this short video you will see Dr. Greg Rose work with Dave Phillips on a morning workout routine that was designed for Dave.

Working out for golf may sound funny at first but golf is a complex sport and every muscle is needed while playing. Thats why TPI workouts are helpful because they focus on the main muscles in the body that support the golf swing. The one thing that everyone needs while playing golf is balance. Balance is one of the most important things in a golf swing because if you have movement (with your legs) going on in your swing you are not going to have a consistent strike on the ball and one swing the ball will curve left and another the ball may curve right. A strong core and strong legs are key to a golf swing and without those two things you will struggle before you even start swinging a club.
